People met on my backpacking 199 - Motorcycle Traveler Knows the Value of Free Travel

.

Motorcycle travel is one of my favorite travel types. I traveled by motorbike across the Philippines, Thailand, India, the USA, and Paraguay. However, it was simply a one-day expedition covering 100 kms. My goal of freely traveling across the world on my motorcycle, crossing borders, is still alive. (*Korea's first global traveler, Kim Chan-sam, traveled by motorbike from the USA to the Equator. He even swam in the Amazon River.

.

I met a German guy at Pattaya Beach this evening who was also a motorbike globe traveler. He bought a motorcycle locally, traveled all around the nation, sold it, and then bought a motorcycle in another country to roam freely. He was one of the smart guys I¡¯ve met who valued life and the freedom of travel.

.

The majority of the bikers I encountered were like that. Of course, many Americans go to Central and South America, including Mexico, on their bikes. Anyway, the two middle-aged Germans in their forties that I met during a trip to Tunis in 1996 remain vivid in my recollection. I was fortunate to meet them. They were professional motorcycle travelers. I could hear an amazing narrative about the Sahara Desert motorbike journey shown in the film.

.

This guy I met today was in Pattaya preparing for his next destination, Indonesia, after riding his motorcycle from Chiang Rai in Thailand's north to Krabi in the south. Preparing meant learning the country's language. The native language was essential since he frequently treated folks in the countryside. I inquired about how to learn. Everything was stored on his smartphone. First, learn basic vocabulary and phrase structures. He obtained one-on-one personal advice from a native via Internet videos. The 30-minute lesson costs $20.

.

He stated that he will go across Southeast Asia by motorcycle for six months. He started in Thailand and traveled to Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Indonesia. When I informed him I arrived to Pattaya with my wife after a month-long vacation from Borneo, he immediately mentioned Borneo. He was a cool guy full of curiosity, enthusiasm, and courage.

.

I asked him about an outstanding experience from his vacation to Thailand. He told me about it while he was in the Chiang Mai highlands. He visited a Karen community, where a minority dwells. At evening, a young lady invited him to visit a neighboring village. She had to travel to a neighboring village for essential business. She asked to ride on his motorcycle. The distance was around 30 kilometers. She stated that it took two hours by foot and turned dark. She suggested 30 minutes by motorbike was enough.

.

It was a mountain rainforest, and he couldn't run because of the steep curve. It rapidly became dark in the highlands. When he passed through a few hills, his motorcycle's headlights turned off. The check revealed that the headlight bulb had broke. There was no smartphone reception because it was in the highlands. He bound the lady to his back. He managed to come on a motorcycle amid the vast, dark bush.

.

In exchange for thanks from the locals, he was treated to a lavish meal with their traditional cuisine and wine. He grinned cheerfully and told me about his unique experience sleeping with them in a double-decker bamboo chamber. Many unexpected events occur when traveling alone. Because it is risky you are given the gift of exhilarating, unforgettable experiences. The addiction is quite strong. He and I both sympathized with this portion. This can only be comprehended via personal experience. Good luck!

Thanks for reading.
