People met on my backpacking 202 - Live and die completely today.
  (in episode 201)

When I saw folks going, especially those on crutches or wheelchairs, it brought back memories. When I spoke with them, the most common causes were vehicle accidents, industrial accidents, adult illnesses, and so forth. They differed from me. But we did have something in common. We wanted to walk normally again.

The German and the Finn I encountered in Pattaya this time were the same. They become physically crippled as adults. the German was hurt in an automobile accident, and the Finn was left with damaged knee joints. They differed from mine. In 1960, when I was the youngest, I was in a tragic accident in the poorest nation. I almost escaped death in the most prone medical atmosphere.

When I expressed an interest in physical disabilities, they inquired about me. "Why just discuss physical disabilities when you appear to be in good health?" In general, Westerners enjoy talking. I told them everything about the accident I had when I was kid. They listened with active kindness to what I said.

I said what I normally think. Man can see what he knows. Man knows as much as he has seen. Every day, I remind myself of this term. This is because everyone recalls the deep wounds and pains they have felt in person. At least that was my experience.

Walked as much as I could, both at home and abroad. I walked almost 500 kilometers from Seoul to Busan. On weekends, I would go up and down mountains near Seoul, like Bukhansan Mountain. The same goes for other countries. I strolled into every little alley on main roadways. There were several sights, sounds, and sensations I encountered. I also walked to places I could walk, such as the Himalayas in India, Annapurna in Nepal, Pakistan K2, Kilomanjaro in Tanzania, Kinabalu on the island of Borneo, Mont Blanc in Switzerland, Mont Blanc in France, Aconcagua in Argentina, Machu Picchu in Peru, Mount Fuji in Japan, Cook in New Zealand, Oksan in Taiwan, Olympus in Greece, and Hallasan in Korea.

It was to honor a pledge to myself. In the spring of 1960, while I was in fourth grade, I fell while climbing a large electric pylon on Mount Wow in Mapo, Seoul. I shattered both my hip and knee joints. I was hospitalized at Seodaemun Red Cross Hospital for more than 6 months. I wore crutches for two years. Then I made a desperate wish. I made a vow then. I stated that I wouldn't want anything more than to be able to walk like I used to. One day, my desire came true. since then, I've kept the vow I made .

They said I was lucky. Especially when they discovered signs of coarsely thick thread stitches on the vast and lengthy surgical region that remained visible on my thigh. I did not show them the wound on purpose. Because I wore shorts. The surgical trace was a primitive surgical mark not commonly seen in modern medicine, therefore it looked to be bigger.

I informed them that miracles may happen to anybody. "It happens every day. Keep hoping." They talked with one voice, as if they were making a pledge. "You're correct. I can't be here right now unless there's a miracle. It is a wonder for me to fly for more than 13 hours. It indicates my back is still alright. I don't intend to quit exploring the world just yet.¡°

Accepting the current situation. Everything is based on thinking. Their statements made me think of the phrase, "Live thoroughly without leaving anything, die thoroughly without leaving anything."

  Thanks for reading.
