Free and prosperous Korea, forever

Yesterday was another really delightful and fulfilling day for me. I am surely a lucky person because I frequently experience these good days at home and abroad. As it turned out, I just wasted such a chance because I was ignorant and lazy. In other words, there were several chances for me.

Yesterday was the Republic of Korea's 76th National Armed Forces Day. I came in front of City Hall at 2 p.m. At 4 p.m., a beautiful march began, bringing together the army, naval, and engineering personnel, as well as numerous cutting-edge K-equipment. I waved the Korean flag freely, sang "Long live the Republic of Korea!" and screamed to our soldiers in a rough voice. I deeply touched because I was overjoyed, grateful. I was doing what I really wanted.

For the past 40 years or so, I've been fortunate enough to travel freely across the world. From the world's wealthiest and poorest nations. But I discovered they had something in common. It was love for the nation. It was clear on their Independence Day, Victory Day, and National Celebration. It wasn't a closed area. It was an open square with a super wide roadway. It looked fantastic, and I envied it.

I saw their Independence Day and National Day celebrations on intent or by accidental. They showed me something I'd never seen before. They struck me as both envious and courteous. They held their country's flag, waved it hard, and sang the national song aloud. I questioned why I didn't have the opportunity. Cause I too had my country, flag, national hymn, and population.

Unfortunately, Korea seldom gets the opportunity to rejoice together in Gwanghwamun Square in the heart of the capital city. Korea doesn't have a national foundation or triumph day. There are no folk festival events that people from all areas and classes may attend together. If there is one, it is nothing more than an anti-government rally organized by leftist groups supporting China and North Korea. The group's equivalents are the elderly, who sing hymns while worried about their homeland. They are quite nervous.

.

Fortunately, no police force has yet been able to prevent people from raising the Korean national flag freely, chanting the national song, and singing hymns loudly in Gwanghwamun. I have a bad feeling that neither the national flag, the national song, or hymns will be fully prohibited sooner or later. That is perhaps why I wave the Korean flag and sing the national song more frequently than others. So that I don't regret later.

Thanks for reading.
