People met on my backpacking 110

- Being dragged into a fraud 7 -

.

It's already dawn. I couldn't sleep well. I suddenly hated Morocco. I decided to leave right away. I felt there was no reason in staying where the mind did not stay. After making this decision, I felt better. Now then I wanted to tell my leaving to Kheryl when he went to work. We shared a room for the past five days. We talked a lot to each other. When breaking up with him, I felt I'd miss him a lot. I think we get close easily when we have meaningful conversations to each other. It's entirely dependent on the quality and quantity of the talking. I have so far met several exiles, including Kheryl, those who have no country to return to, and refugees throughout the world. For example, Algerians, Kurds, Old Vietnamese, Syrians, Bosnians, Zimbabweans, Belarusians, etc. I always knew from their words and eyes that I had a reliable country to go back to anytime. And I thought I had a very special grace from my proud country, Korea, and I was grateful.

.

I carefully put the wine bottle down on his bed, telling him why I suddenly decided to leave Morocco that day. Because it was rude to hand over the bottle directly to Muslims. I gave the bottle to him because I knew the value of American dollars better than the value of alcohol. As he said, Morocco was a place where they could live for weeks for about 100 dollars. The power of the U.S. dollar was great at the time.

.

When he asked me about my schedule, I said I would go to Tunis and Carthage by train through Algeria's capital, Algiers. He strongly objected to my idea. Especially, the train was too dangerous. He told me that it's better to avoid Algeria, his country, for the time being. He was right. Because I heard the same thing from another Algerian I met during my trip to Tunis. These were all refugees, too. I felt it again through these people. That the country should never be ruined. We shook hands vigorously.

.

Casablanca, where my heart has already left, I had no reason to stay there anymore. I canceled Marrakesh, too. And I ran straight into the city. I stopped by several travel agencies, but there were no air tickets to Tunisia. The only ticket was Moroccan Airlines. I hated Moroccan Airlines, but I had no choice. Of course, there was Tunisian Airlines, but the problem was that the departure time was too late. The travel agent, who had no idea of my displeasure, asked me with a bright smile. "Did you enjoy your trip to Morocco?¡°

.

"How did you like Morocco?" You enjoy it?" I asked a good-looking employee instead of answering. "Well, sorry to say thing but I'm going to cancel visiting the Marrakesh that you've all recommended me to go see it. Because something unexpectedly bad happened to me here in Casa." The staff looked surprised and asked what had happened. I told the whole story. After listening to me, all the employees felt sorry. A female employee said. "Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that."

I told her she had to inform the police of the incident of mine. She said she would. Well, the staff here showed considerable responsibility for what I had been subjected to. On the other hand, her business spirit was vividly in action. remained intact. She said to me, "If you feel better someday, I hope you visit Morocco again and discover the beauty of Casablanca and Marrakesh." Anyway, they showed me both sorry and kind until the end. I felt a quite better.

As did these employees, most Moroccans were kind and friendly. Of course, there are fraudsters in every country as well as in my country, Korea. But a few, I guess. Anyway, I ran to the airport by taxi (about 30 to 40 minutes) with the intention of leaving Casa ASAP. Arrived at the ticket counter. The staff there said the check-in was already over 10 minutes ago. Only the next morning flight would be O.k he said. What the hell was it? I got screwed up all day for some strange reason I didn't know. I was really at a loss. You know I didn't even want to smell the land anymore. Some say that the more urgent, the calmer needed. The emotions are nothing but the servant of reason. But anyway I failed to control the servants of mine.

But then a young Moroccan guy came up to me. He somehow seemed to know everything about me. He was actually in the same boat as me when I heard him talk. He asked me to sleep at his house that night and come back to the airport tomorrow morning. "Again? No way, why does this crazy thing keep happening to me today? Then do I have to make a mysterious choice again like yesterday? Well, I know it's true, backpacking is all about taking risks in exchange for my enjoying from the freedom. All right, then let's bump it to the end." So, I followed another new Moroccan guy to his house on a dark night. As it turned out, he was a very ordinary and honest young guy who was a peddler, between Morocco and Tunis. I'm going to tell you about him in the Tunisian travel episode.

(I think, for about 40 years, I've been talking with people from a lot of countries. Of course, I had big and small incidents. Casa's case is just one of them. However, they were very intelligent criminals. L luckily enough, I have not yet been directly injured by violence. Saying, petty fraud, theft, and argue or controversy over racial and national disparities. (India, Nepal, Guam, Russia, Pakistan, Croatia, Bulgaria, etc.). I have received their apology or compensation for the damage by arguing with them. Of course, if I couldn't speak to them and express them in writing, I would have a lot of unpleasant memories by now. (Of all incidents, it was rare for me to protest in writing, but certainly there were. About 3%, Citibank Pakistan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, etc.)

Whenever I travel around the world, I realize the power of language that opens the door to the world. When I meet new people from the world, I think of words that everyone knows; "The pen(language) is mightier than the sword(money)." However, on the battlefield, it's entirely opposite. It's the sword not the pen. In particular, I reaffirm this point in the field of world history (the battlefield). I mean that there have been no cases of being defeated, enslaved, or colonized in war because of poor speaking and poor writing. I am sure that this is the truth.

I've always something unsatisfied in me. I should have more talked with them from that country. If I had known the word and the phrase at that time, it would be better. Of course, there were times when conversations caused misunderstandings and argued with each other. But I've learned and informed more through conversation. So, I would say the language determines how much my world traveling valuable.

*The wise man learned from history, and the foolish man learned from experience. Deserve it though I don't know whether I will repeat myself the same kind of stupid thing again.

*I meet a lot of people while traveling abroad. Enjoy talking with them over something to drink or to eat. But, when I meet Koreans, I see and hear them complaint a lot about the local food. They insist on Korean food even in foreign countries. In fact, I would say that if a foreign traveler refuses to eat local food, ignores their customs and traditions, fear their religion, and avoid meeting people, then it's far better to stay at home. -Jack Ch-

Thanks.
