  선후진국(先後進國)을 막론하고 거짓말쟁이는 다 싫어한다. 애고 어른이고 다 그렇다. 대통령을 포함한 고위 공직자와 사회 지도자층은 반드시 처벌을 받는다. 국가와 국민에 큰 피해를 주기 때문이다. 다음의 사례를 보면 분명하다.
  
  1. 핀란드 역사상 첫 여성 총리에 올랐던(2002) 아넬리 야텐마키는 거짓말 한 마디로 취임 58일 만에 쫓겨났다. 죄목은 국민에게 신뢰 상실을 안겨줬다는 것.
  
  2. 영국 트러스 총리는 취임 44일 만에 쫓겨났다. 이유는 감세를 하겠다는 국민과의 공약 불이행(거짓말)이었다.
  
  3. 영국 존슨 총리의 당 대표 사임의 이유는 코로나19 봉쇄가 한창이던 그때 총리가 방역규정을 어기고 파티를 한 사실을 거짓말로 덮으려고 했기 때문이다.
  
  4. 미국 대통령 닉슨은 워터게이트 사건에 대해 자기는 전혀 몰랐다는 것이 거짓말로 밝혀져 물러났다.
  
  5. 일본 총리 다나카는 미국 록히드사로부터 뇌물을 받고서도 거짓 해명을 한 것이 들통나 현직에서 바로 구속됐다.
  
  6. 프랑스 사르코지 대통령도 자신의 불법 정치자금 의혹 수사와 관련해 거짓말을 한 혐의로 2년 징역형을 선고받았다.
  
  7. 이탈리아 총리 실비오 베를루스코니도 세금 횡령, 미성년 매춘부들과의 관계 등을 속인 혐의로 수사를 받은 불명예 총리가 됐다. 아이러니하게도 그가 한 말이 더 유명세를 탔다. “세상이 그토록 속기를 바라니 그냥 속도록 내버려 두라 (Il mondo vuole che le persone vengano ingannate, quindi lascia che siano ingannate.)”
  
  8. 미국 대통령 빌 클린턴도 전 백악관 임시직원 모니카 르윈스키와의 성 스캔들 관련 거짓 증언으로 하원에서 탄핵안이 가결됐다.
  
  9. 미국 대통령 도널드 트럼프도 이전의 ‘성관계 입막음 의혹’과 관련해 미국 역사상 최초로 기소되어 법정에 서게 됐다.

  20. 페루 페드로 카스틸로 대통령(2022) 등, 수없이 많다. 이들 모두는 법(국민)의 심판을 받았고 불명예(不名譽) 하차를 했다. 공통점은 거짓말이었다.
  
  이처럼 국제사회의 지도자들은 크든 작든 거짓말을 하면 반드시 처벌을 받는다는 걸 알고 있다. 비겁(卑怯)한 변명은 더더욱 용납되지 않는다. 국민이 깨어있기 때문이다. 공(公)과 사(私)를 구별할 줄 알기 때문이다. 국가의 이익과 명예를 지키고 싶기 때문이다. 모두가 주인의식(主人意識)을 가지고 있기 때문이다.
  
  우리나라의 경제력, 군사력, 문화력, 학력 등은 이미 세계의 수준급이다. 명실공(名實共)히 선진국이다. 그러나 우리와는 비교도 안 되는 후진국 국민보다 못한 점이 바로 거짓말에 대한 죄의식이다. 거짓말로 대통령이 된 뒤, 성공한 나라를 파멸로 몰고 간 대통령도 그렇고, 역시 범죄 전과(前科)와 거짓말로 대통령이 되겠다고 나선 후보도 그렇다. 이들이 법정(法廷)에 서지 않는 한, 이들이 여론조사에서 10% 이하로 떨어지지 않는 한, 진정 선진국의 꿈은 남가일몽(南柯一夢)에 지나지 않을까 싶다.

  People hate liars, both developed and underdeveloped. No matter if it's a child or an adult. If they lie, high-ranking officials and social leaders, including the president, should be punished. Because they cause great damage to the country and its people. It is clear from the following examples.
  
  1. Anneli Tuulikki Jäätteenmäki, who became the first female prime minister in Finnish history (2002), was ousted 58 days after taking office due to a single lie. That she caused a loss of trust in the people.
  
  2. British Prime Minister Liz Truss was ousted 44 days after taking office. The reason was failure to comply with the public's pledge to cut taxes.
  
  3. The reason for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's resignation as party leader was that he tried to cover up with lies that the prime minister violated quarantine rules and enjoyed the party during an emergency due to the COVID-19 crisis.
  
  4. U.S. President Nixon stepped down after it turned out to be a lie that he had no idea about the Watergate scandal.
  
  5. Japanese Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka was arrested immediately from his current position after he was found to have made a false explanation even after receiving bribes from the U.S. company Lockheed.
  
  6. French President Sarkozy was also sentenced to two years in prison for lying in connection with his investigation into alleged illegal political funds.
  
  7. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has also become a disgraced prime minister who has been investigated for allegedly embezzling taxes and deceiving relationships with underage prostitutes. Ironically, what he said has been more famous. "The world wants to be so gullible, just let them be gullible (Il mondo vuole chele persone venganoingannate, quindilascia che sianoingannate.)
  
  8. U.S. President Bill Clinton also falsely testified about the sex scandal with Monica Lewinsky, a former White House temporary employee, and the impeachment bill was approved by the House of Representatives.

  Like this, the leaders of the international community, big or small, were always punished for lying. Their cowardly excuses were not tolerated. It was because the people of the country were awake. They knew how to distinguish between public and private. They defended the interests and honor of the country. They all had a sense of ownership. Korea's economic power, military power, cultural power, and academic background are already advanced countries. However, the fact that Korea is inferior to the people of underdeveloped countries, which is not comparable to ours, is that it is guilty of lying. The same goes for the president who led a successful country to destruction after becoming president by lying, and the same goes for the candidate who said he would become president by his criminal record and lies. Unless they go to court, unless they fall below 10% in the polls, it feels like the dream of a truly developed country will also end in a dream.
