  오늘(23.4.12) 조선일보 사설 세 꼭지 중 두 개가 거짓말에 관한 것이다. 하나, [野 내부 반성 “무당 유튜버, 팬덤, 가짜 뉴스, 저질이 합쳐졌다.”] 둘, [‘천공 공관 방문’도 가짜뉴스, 처벌 없고 이익되니 끝나지 않는 것]. 대한민국에 거짓말이 얼마나 심각하고 위험한 지경에 와 있으면 국내 최대(最大) 발행 부수를 자랑하는 조선일보가 이런 결정을 했을까 싶다.
  
  참으로 한심하고 창피하기 짝이 없다. 명색이 세계가 부러워한다는 기적을 이룬 나라요, 경제 대국 반열에 오른 나라요, 문화 강국인 선진국 아닌가. 우리나라도 그런 적이 있지만, 지금도 북한은 말할 것도 없고, 의식주로 고통받는 나라는 부지기수다. 이들에게는 설령 거짓말을 밥 먹듯이 한다고 해도 어느 정도 수긍(首肯)한다. 동정하기도 한다. 얼마나 춥고 배고프면 그러겠냐는 연민의 정을 느끼기 때문이다.
  
  그러나 성공한 대한민국은 더 이상 거짓을 밥 먹듯이 해선 안 된다. 아니 거짓말쟁이를 절대로 봐주거나 용서해선 안 된다. 자칫하면 한국인들은 조상(祖上) 대대로 거짓말 유전자를 핏줄로 이어받는 구제 불능의 천박한 인종으로 낙인찍힌다.
  
  바라건대, 앞으론 우리나라 언론에 다음과 같은 제목의 사설이나 칼럼 혹은 서명(書名) 같은 건 없기를 바란다. 눈도 피곤하지만 정신이 병들고 영혼(靈魂)이 파괴되기 때문이다.

  이루 다 열거하기 어려울 정도로 온통 신문을 포함 언론과 책에 등장하는 역겨운 타이틀들이다. 거의 하루도 거르지 않고 등장하는 이런 비열하고 천박한 글 따위의 제목은 이제 사라져야 한다. 그래야 진짜 선진국이 된 멋진 대한민국을 세계만방에 자랑할 수 있다. 오늘도 세계인들은 한국의 경제 기적을 배우려고, 새마을 운동을 배우려고, 교육열을 배우려고 찾아오고 있다. 이들에게 진짜 보여주어야 할 것은 한국인들의 정직성(正直姓)과 인간 됨됨이 그리고 근면성과 배움의 열기(熱氣)이다.

  People Met on My Backpacking144 – We shouldn’t be all Liars
  
  Two of the three editorials of the Chosun Ilbo today (23.4.12) are about lies. One, [The opposition party's internal reflection "Mudang YouTuber, fandom, fake news, and low quality are combined"] Two, [The visit to the monk's mission is also fake news, and lies are profitable instead of punishment, so lies do not end]. If lies are at a serious and dangerous point in Korea, I wonder if the Chosun Ilbo, which boasts the largest circulation in Korea, made such a decision.
  
  It is truly pathetic and shameful. Korea is an advanced country that has achieved miracles that the world envies, has become an economic powerhouse, and is a cultural powerhouse. Korea used to be poor, but there are many countries suffering from food, clothing, and shelter, not to mention North Korea. For them, even if they lie habitually, people around the world accept it to some extent. They also sympathize. This is because they feel pity for how cold and hungry they are.
  
  However, a successful South Korea should no longer tell lies morbidly. Now, Koreans should never be lenient or forgiving liars. This is because Koreans are branded as an irredeemable shallow race that inherits the lie gene from generation to generation.
  
  Hopefully, there will be no editorials, columns or book names in the nation's media in the future. My eyes are tired, but more importantly, my mind is sick and my soul is falsely contaminated.

The title of such mean and shallow writing, which appears almost every day in Korea, should now disappear. Only then can we boast to the world that Korea has become a truly developed country. Even today, people from all over the world are coming to Korea to learn the economic miracle of Korea, to learn the Saemaul Movement, and to learn the enthusiasm for education. What we really need to show them is the honesty, humanity, diligence and intense curiosity of Koreans.
