People met on my backpack 147 – Talking with bright female college students in Uzbekistan

.

Around 10 a.m., we got out of the hotel and started walking slowly, looking around. The destination was 'Amir Temur' Square, one of Tashkent's attractions. Surprisingly, there were not many vehicles or pedestrians in the center of a large city. High-rise buildings, often seen in large cities, were also rare. It was very impressive how the huge street trees stretched out. As I walk along the street, I sometimes see a place where I really want to take a picture with my wife. And I boldly asked a passerby to take a picture of us. Otherwise, I couldn't take any commemorative photos. However, it was not easy because there were few people here. Of course, I knew someone would soon appear. The same was true this time. After taking a picture, I thank them, and then I tell them about us. This is how the conversation takes place. Talk for a few minutes, at least. or longer.

.

Both of them were like that on this day. One was a Russian (in his 40s). After I said "thank you" in Russian, he soon changed his face with a smile when I said we had been to Russia. And naturally, it led to the next story. "Where have you been? Where did you like the most?" And so on. Another person, in his 30s, as soon as I asked him for a picture, looked at me and said, First." "You must be Korean, right?" His polite way of speaking was impressive. When I asked him how he could speak Korean so well, he said he had learned it for three years in Korea. What for? He said it was to get a job at a Korean company in Tashkent. Of course, he said he made it. I feel the best when I meet someone like this on a trip abroad. (As it was in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Pokhara, Nepal, and Mamalapram, India.)

.

In about half an hour, we arrived at the "Imir Timur" square. Even from a distance what caught my eye was a stately Timur-mounted statue towering in the middle of the park. It was so nice to see I envied it because we don't have it in Korea. This is often the case with the hero of a conquering country or the hero of a saving country. And so are horse-riding statues in honor of heroes who have won or founded independence. For example, I typically take the statue of Alexander the Great, which rises high in the square of Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. When I looked at him in front of me, I naturally felt his bravery and dignity. I also felt that the country couldn't seem so great.

.

If we exclude Alexander the Great's role in world history, it is impossible to explain world civilization itself. However, although Alexander the Great was a hero who left such feats behind, the state looked very shabby when I went to Macedonia, where his descendants live today. I had that impression here in Uzbekistan, too. It looks too quiet for a huge and grand start. On the other hand, the successful Korea that the world envies today is certainly different. Going back to its roots, it is in contact with General Kim Yu-shin, one of the absolute heroes who unified the three countries (Shilla, Paekje, and Koguryo). Therefore, this is why his wonderful horse-riding statue must stand tall in the middle of Gwanghwamun (Lee Seung-man) Square, the capital of Korea. This is because countries and people who don't forget historical heroes can surely become world leaders. If not, they will lose in the near future.

.

'Timur Square' was quite large. There were many long chairs in the shade provided by the big trees. As soon as we turned to the shade of the tree after we had appreciated the Timur equestrian statue, several ladies suddenly came to us with cheerful facial expressions and asked, "Can you speak English?" I was puzzled for a moment because it was completely unexpected, but I soon understood. They were college students. They were carrying out a task to capture the scene of interviewing foreign tourists in a video. Of course, I accepted it.

.

At first, one student kept asking questions, and the other student focused on filming the video.

.Once they finished the questions they had prepared, they took turns asking me personal questions. Above all, what impressed me most was their active and polite attitude, especially their curiosity and affection for Korea. Of course, I asked them a number of questions. We interviewed and talked with them for about half an hour before breaking up.

.

However, less than 50 meters away, two other female college students approached us and asked for an interview. They were also very active. Of course, I accepted it immediately this time as well. Most of their questions overlapped with those of the former students. The common thing between the first and second students was that they had a considerable level of English expression, including English pronunciation. The interviews I exchanged with them are as follows:

.

Thanks.
