The most blessed story of my life 10

-As predicted, the most significant value in my life was honesty-

  1. I've spent my entire life seeking items that aligned with my personality and ideals, pursuing careers and studies if desired. I've traveled worldwide, meeting people from various backgrounds, and gained a deeper understanding of themselves and my Korean identity. I sought true bliss without financial or educational resources, focusing on trust and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships. I've learned to avoid greed and remember grace, which I received from my parents. I've known trust is crucial for maintaining healthy relationships.

  2. Looking back, Father Jim's initial advice to me was accurate, but I struggled to understand its meaning. I had already demonstrated proficiency in English and Korean, but when I unknowingly stepped over the line, conflict arose. I had no academic talent, unconditional love, or God's calling. So, if I continued pushing myself into inappropriate clothing and shoes I was turned fully insane. This experience resembled Don Quixote or Procrustes, where I was ready to go crazy.

  3. Reflecting on the experience, I felt genuinely loved and blessed. Meeting nice people in person, hearing the Word, and shaking hands was a privilege.

  * Met Pope John Paul II twice (in Seoul, May, 1984, in the Vatican in Oct 1984.)
  * Met Cardinal Kim Soo-hwan at the bishop's office once a week. (also at the Vatican in Oct 1984.)
  * People I met at Sogang Univ: President J.P. Daley, President Skillingstad, President Mace, Vice President Fr. Price, Fr. J.R. Murdock, The director of Fr. Tracy's Institute of English Education, Fr.Mcintosh(English Dep.),Fr. Herbst, Fr. Spalatan, Fr. Son Edward(author, unconditional love), Fr. little Daily, Brother Dethlefs, Brother Min Daniel, Brother Lee Ki-seok, Yom Yong-ho(a dean of students)
  * Prof. Lee Ki-baek, Prof. Wagner of Harvard University, I was there.
  * Prof. Lin Yutang and Mother Teresa when speeching in Sogang Univ's Mary Hall. I was there.

** The fact that I was invited to a party at the embassy's residence at the invitation of an employee of the US embassy. The fact that I was invited to the University of Maryland in Yongsan, and the believers from many countries I met at English Masses for Foreigners. The conversations we had at the party after Mass, especially the invitation to dinner at the home of Mr. Reriks, a Canadian businessman, his wife and their son, John.

  4. The time spent with these individuals was a blessing in my youth, allowing me to visit over 100 countries. Conversations with them taught me about the world, fostered my aspirations, and gave me confidence. These individuals will hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life. They've been living in my heart for a long time. It¡®s because of them that I am able to proudly share with the world the amazing recollections I have gathered and the exciting life history I have lived.

Episode 1: I was surprised when Cardinal Kim and Father Jim asked me to to the Royal Hotel Sky Lounge Restaurant in front of Myeongdong Cathedral. I became nervous and followed him. Cardinal Kim introduced a lady to me, and he whispered "Come on, John," which frightened me. He wondered if I would declare I wouldn't get married. I took care of a priest in Myeongdong St. Mary's Hospital, and Cardinal Kim visited the sick priest every morning and prayed for him. He then said "Good work, John," touched my head, and walked away.

*Episode 2: Cardinal Kim Sou-hwan invited me to read a book during Mass at Myeong-dong Cathedral. I was baptized by Father Park Hong and received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Cardinal Kim at Sogang University. I was introduced to a young woman at Sogang University's priest's cafeteria by Father Jim and a nun from Merinoll Hospital. A dinner party was held at the rectory cafeteria once or twice a year, featuring Jesuit priests, seminarians, the Paris Foreign Missions Church, the Merinoll Foreign Missions Society, the Chartres Sisters of St. Paul, and the Don Bosco Convent. I have enjoyed attending these gatherings frequently.

(As a tour guide for foreign priests, I visited Busan and showed them the changing landscape. Despite the changes, I enjoyed eating raw fish and sea cucumbers. I visited the Jagalchi fish market and visited my birthplace and Yeongdo Elementary School. We also walked across the Yeongdo Bridge, I told them where I jumped over it for fun with my friends back then. For those interested in exploring the Korean countryside, I took a train to Miryang and a bus to the deep countryside, where my father was born. Although the landscape has changed significantly since the 1970s, it still retains the rural feel of the 1970s.)

*Episode 3: Father Price, vice president of Sogang University, filled in for Father Jim when he couldn't lead an English Mass at a foreign church. He gave a thorough introduction of me to the believers after his sermon. "John, a staff member, is a unique individual with a strong desire for success. He gained electrical skills, became a supervisor, and taught himself English. He is currently enrolled in graduate school and enjoys backpacking around the world. He'll be in India next week."

(During a tea reception after Mass, the believers congratulated me and asked me about my backpacking and then about my studying English independently. They also praised my talents and travel plans. I was surprised to receive envelopes with ten-dollar notes, which were delivered to me. Fr. Price explained that Westerners were fond of self-made individuals and enjoyed hearing stories about self-made individuals. Of course he told me they love to travel.)

(Father Jim also presented me to believers after the English Mass, highlighting my self-made nature. They emphasized substance over form, resulting in pragmatism deeply embedded in American society. It means this spirit of freedom, self-reliance, independence, and challenge supports and leads the West, particularly the USA.)

Episode 4: In the 1970s, a priest invited me to transport a 3-year-old child to Gimpo Airport from Holt Children's Services in Hapjeong-dong. The child's eyes appeared sad, and I felt intense emotional pain seeing the orphan in person. Unaware of the reason, the child was hugged by adoptive parents at an American airport twelve hours later. This experience led me to understand that Korea exported more orphans than any other country, and I sent the information to Hankook Ilbo, a daily newspaper, and made a strong effort to stop the export of orphans.

At that very moment, A nun sent me a VHS of an abortion scene, and I argued for fewer single mothers. I supported Roh Tae-woo's promise to stop exporting orphans, and later I attended a church in the USA with a 40-something couple with two children. The couple had two Korean kids cerebral palsy. I asked him about them, and the father reassured me that we were all children of God. I found what was the true Christian love from the couple.

-to the next page-5. Individuals, organizations, and nations with a fact-based spirit have triumphed in various conflicts, prioritizing reality over ideals, reason over emotion, content over form, and action over words. Countries that valued the former were colonized, while those that valued the latter flourished and were affluent.

  6. NATO (No Action Talk Only) is often ridiculed and ignored in the international community due to its disregard for natural laws and the survival of the fittest. Despite visiting over 100 countries, I have learned from great people and found Korea to be envied by everyone. They felt pride in their country's resources, huge lands and hard work, but they failed while Korea has winned with nothing. It's from the conflict between excellent leaders and corrupt and inept leaders.

  7. I've witnessed the devastating effects of poverty and the potential consequences of a country falling into the category of impoverished or without a nation. If the ROK was to fall into this category, it would result in the loss of freedoms such as religion, speech, and the ability to vote, as well as the freedom to travel, vote, and take care of oneself. This would also result in the loss of religious leaders, public workers, and police officers, as well as the ability to see loved grandkids on smartphones. I believe that the prosperity of the Republic of Korea has made my dream of a globalized world a reality, and I'm grateful for the blessings it has brought. I've also kept another promises of me to proudly share my life's journey with the world.

  8. The Republic of Korea's temperament, influenced by emotions, will never fade away if it encounters a great leader like 60 years ago. The country will be G2 via G7, making travel more thrilling. A Japanese man in his 40s welcomed me as a Korean English teacher with traditional Japanese respect when we were staying at a Tahrir Square guesthouse in Cairo, Egypt, in 2007. I was surprised to learn about his knowing about me from a Japanese backpacker website, which uploaded detailed trip journals.

(I've never been alone, even when traveling alone. I mix with foreigners, including Japanese individuals, and have helped them avoid arguing and conflict. When crossing Indian boder by bus for example I helped a japanese as he was bothered by a bus man. He was appreciative of my action and I also found the Japanese man's politness. I hope to see more cases like this worldwide if the ROK continues to run well. I believe that young Koreans should explore the globe and learn from the experiences of others.)

*Because of Korea's development, my dream I was interested in has become a reality. I have fulfilled another of my vows to myself. I talked to the friends who stayed with me face to face. I couldn't wait to tell everyone about it. Thank you for taking the time to read my lengthy post. -End-

*Money and health are sufficient as long as they don't cause harm.
*Survival requires hand and speech abilities.
*A true buddy is preferable over 30 sloppy phony buddies.
*A country's development depends on carefully chosen presidents and National Assembly members.
*Korea is unique in lacking a statue of its founder or Independence Day.

  Thanks.

  .
