  Why Never Trust a Communist?
  
  An elderly Soviet communist who is close to passing away is lying on his deathbed. Around him, his buddies are huddled in silence. When you were nearly put to death in 1921, Dimitri, remember that, the old man says to one of them. You should be aware that I informed the Cheka about you. I pray you will pardon me.
  
  Oh, comrade, everything has been forgiven, Dimitri adds.
  
  The Communist then addresses a different pal.
  
  "Petya, do you recall receiving a 25-year gulag sentence in 1937? In any case, I went to the NKVD. Please pardon me.
  
  "Stop being a jerk, my friend. You have been pardoned, says Petya.
  
  "Misha, I must be honest with you—in 1942, I put you to the prison battalion. I really apologize for that day.
  
  Please accept our forgiveness, dear buddy. You're free to leave," replies Misha.
  
  The elderly communist exclaims, "Thank you, comrades, for being with me throughout all these years," as tears fall down his face. "I'm not sure where I would be without you. I apologize for deceiving you all and really hope that you would pardon me.
  
  His remarks have an obvious impact on his buddies. He finally musters all of his last power and says:
  
  "And I want you to grant my final desire in recognition of our strong relationship. On the windowsill, do you see a cactus plant? I want you to grab it and stuff it up my ass as soon as I pass away.
  
  The elderly communist breathed his final breath just as his friends were going to speak.
  
  With the other two supporting the old communist's legs, Petya goes to the window and removes the cactus plant before shoving it up their dead friend's bottom. They hear a loud beating on the door and then a stern voice yelling:
  
  "Open up, the police are here. According to information we've received, "Open up, the police are here. According to information we've obtained, a veteran Bolshevik was tortured to death.
