Pepple met on my backpacking173 - Victims of Poverty: Filipinos

I read Mr. Cho's post on the Philippines today and would want to add to the comparable experiences I've had.

Cleaning workers are present in both big and small businesses, such as hotels and guesthouses. The majority of them are from poor countries. I was aware that there were many Filipinos among them. They all had one thing in common: they were fluent in English.

A female staffer cleaning the hotel where we are staying was also Filipino the other day. She was a kind young lady in her early twenties. While we were discussing various topics, she said, "There are so many Koreans coming to Kota. I have a lot of admiration for Koreans. I hope that the Philippines will soon become a wealthy country like Korea, allowing Filipinos to travel freely across the world. Is that even possible? "Could you tell me the secret to Korea's success?¡°

Every time I hear these stories, I am reminded of how much I benefit from my country, Korea. It was the same when I met a Filipino who worked at a guesthouse in Sydney, Australia, and it was the same when I met a Filipino worker in Greece's Syntagma Square and a Filipino employee on an Indian Ocean cruise. They looked to have a great feeling of patriotism for their nation. Some Filipinos were happy to tell me that their country had lived well enough to help Korea.

My response to their inquiries has always been the same. I stated that the prosperity of the world's poorest country Korea was not from its size and natural resource wealth. Furthermore, I said not because Koreans are smarter, more dexterous, more honest, and more hardworking than you. However, I stated that Koreans had luckily wonderful leaders who were more honest and capable of loving and protecting the world's acknowledged liberal democracy.

This is my consistent answer to many common questions that I have encountered during my travels around the world. What contributes to Korea's success today is that it was lucky to have great leaders. There has been no objection from foreigners yet. Why? Because it is a historical fact that anyone can fully understand and admit as long as they have basic common sense. Unfortunately, half of Koreans are not included in this category.

When a country falls apart or becomes poor, its whole people weeps and is enslaved. Young men and women, in particular, are being sold into the global labor market. They must live in bloody tears, hating their forefathers. This is a cruel law of worldwide human civilization as well as historical fact.

  Thanks for reading.
